Depart for Shannon, Ireland
Tuesday, November 20th
Arrive Shannon, Ireland where you will be met by your Irish driver/guide. Travel west to Co. Clare and visit the dramatic Cliffs of Moher, rising 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. There is a new interpretation area called “Atlantic Edge” which will include a range of encounters for the visitor within the main dome with themed ‘Ocean, Rock, Nature & Man’ exhibits. Also experience ‘The Ledge’ taking you on a virtual cliff face journey both above and below sea level. Depart Co. Clare and travel south via the Killimer-Tarbert Ferry to Co. Kerry. Travel to the picturesque town of Killarney with its jaunting cars, famous lakes, mountains, numerous shops, restaurants and pubs. Spend five nights at the Killarney Park Hotel. Tonight, enjoy a cocktail party with hors d’oeuvres and Tour Briefing.
Wednesday, November 21st
After breakfast, depart Killarney through Milltown and enjoy a scenic shore drive of Dingle Bay. Travel through Inch Strand, made famous in the movie “Ryan’s Daughter”. Head for the fishing port of Dingle, home to its famous resident, “Fungi” the dolphin. Continue to Slea Head, the most westerly point in Europe, site of the 6th century monastery founded by St. Finan on Skellig Rock and also famous for its beehive huts and magnificent views of the Blasket Islands. Arrive back in Dingle for lunch. Return to Killarney via the clifftop drive overlooking Tralee Bay. Tonight, visit the local pubs and enjoy some traditional Irish music in Killarney town.
Thursday, November 22nd
Happy Thanksgiving! After breakfast, depart the hotel for a jaunting car ride thru the Killarney National Park to the ruins of Ross Castle. Your Coach Driver will be waiting to then take you on a visit to Muckross House, a magnificent Victorian mansion that portrays the lifestyles of the landed Gentry. Enjoy a walk thru the house and its beautiful gardens. No tour of Killarney would be complete without a visit to Kate Kearney’s Cottage in the scenic Gap of Dunloe where you will enjoy an Irish coffee. Tonight enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner at The Killarney Park Hotel.
Friday, November 23rd
After breakfast, head to Cobh, a cruise port on the south coast of Ireland. Cobh was the departure point for 2.5 million of the six million Irish people who emigrated to North America between 1848 and 1950. These included Annie Moore and her two brothers – the first immigrants to be processed on Ellis Island in New York. On 11 April 1912 Queenstown was the final port of call for the RMS Titanic as she set out across the Atlantic on her ill-fated maiden voyage. 2012 is the centenary of that voyage. Later, travel to Kinsale. The medieval town of Kinsale is known as Ireland's fine food capital, but it also has traditional bars, beautiful buildings, narrow streets, shops and galleries and lots of activities on land and sea. Tonight, visit the local pubs and enjoy some traditional Irish music in Killarney town.
Saturday, November 24thA free day to explore Killarney and start your Christmas shopping — sales will be on in most stores. You will also receive a 10% discount coupon for Quills Woollen Market. You may also wish to indulge yourself in a spa treatment at The Killarney Park Hotel (spa treatments must be booked in advance). Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner,
Sunday the 25th of November
After breakfast, depart Killarney for your return to Shannon Airport.
